Sucrose Palmitate

INCI: SUCROSE PALMITATE
Type: Non-ionic surfactant (emulsifying + cleansing), emollient
Origin: Produced by esterifying sucrose (table sugar) with palmitic acid (a fatty acid commonly derived from palm or vegetable sources). It belongs to the class of sugar-based emulsifiers known for their mildness.
What it does:
Sucrose Palmitate is a gentle, biodegradable emulsifier and stabilizer used to create and maintain smooth, stable textures. Primary functions:
- Primary emulsifier: Forms stable oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, effectively binding oil and water phases together in creams and lotions to prevent separation.
- Texture modifier: Contributes to a rich, creamy, and luxurious skin feel without greasiness.
- Mildness: Known for its excellent skin compatibility and low irritation potential, making it suitable for sensitive skin formulations.
Why we use it:
We selected Sucrose Palmitate for its ability to create stable, elegant emulsions with a premium skin feel while upholding our commitment to gentleness and ingredient integrity. It allows us to build effective, nourishing textures that respect the skin’s balance.
Mild and gentle: As a sugar ester, it is one of the mildest classes of emulsifiers available, reducing the risk of disrupting the skin’s natural barrier.
Biodegradable: Derived from renewable resources and readily biodegradable.
