Hydrolized Wheat Protein

INCI: HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN
Type: Plant-derived protein, film-forming, skin conditioning
Origin: Obtained by acidic, alkaline, or enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat germ. Composed primarily of amino acids, peptides, and proteins that are bioavailable for skin.
What it does:
Hydrolyzed wheat protein is a multifunctional, plant-derived active that provides both immediate sensory benefits and longer-term skin conditioning. Primary functions:
- Film-forming hydration: Forms an elastic, breathable film on the skin’s surface that helps prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL) while providing a smooth, non-tacky feel.
- NMF support: The released amino acids act as humectants, contributing to the skin’s natural moisturizing factors and helping to attract and bind water to the stratum corneum.
- Skin smoothing and softening: Improves skin texture and suppleness, leaving it feeling silky and conditioned.
- Barrier reinforcement: Helps strengthen the skin’s natural protective barrier against environmental stressors.
Why we use it:
Hydrolyzed wheat protein is included in our NMF complex for its dual-action benefits. It provides immediate smoothing and softening upon application while contributing to long-term hydration and barrier support.
Rich in glutamine, proline, and glycine – amino acids that are also abundant in the skin’s own structural proteins.
