Hydrolized Glycosaminoglycans

INCI: HYDROLYZED GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS
Type: Humectant, skin conditioner, bioactive carbohydrate
Origin: Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are long-chain polysaccharides naturally found in the skin’s extracellular matrix (e.g., hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate). Hydrolyzed means these large chains have been broken down into smaller, lower-molecular-weight fragments via enzymatic or chemical hydrolysis for better skin penetration and usability.
What it does:
This ingredient provides smaller, bioavailable pieces of the skin’s natural supportive sugar mesh. Primary functions:
- Enhanced hydration: As hydrolyzed fragments, they retain strong water-binding (humectant) capacity, helping to attract and hold moisture in the skin, improving hydration and plumpness.
- Skin barrier and structure support: GAGs are fundamental components of the skin’s dermal matrix. Providing bioavailable fragments can help support the skin’s natural repair processes and maintain a healthy, resilient structure.
Why we use it:
We include Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans in our daily moisturiser as a strategic component of our hydrating complex. It complements hyaluronic acid by offering broader matrix support, aiming to not only hydrate the skin but also help reinforce its underlying structure for improved long-term resilience and a healthy appearance.
