Lecithin

INCI: LECITHIN
Type: Emolient, skin conditioning
Origin: A complex mixture of phospholipids naturally found in all living cells. Commercially derived from soybeans, sunflower seeds, or rapeseed. Our lecithin is non-GMO, sunflower-derived.
What it does:
Lecithin is a biomimetic emulsifier and skin-identical lipid. It is not a single ingredient – it is a sophisticated blend of phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, and inositol phospholipids. Primary functions:
- Skin barrier integration: Phospholipids are the primary structural components of cell membranes. Lecithin integrates seamlessly into the stratum corneum, reinforcing barrier function rather than disrupting it.
- Emollient and conditioner: Leaves skin soft, smooth, and supple. Provides immediate sensory comfort without greasiness.
- Active delivery system: Enhances penetration and bioavailability of other ingredients. Helps actives reach their target layers.
Why we use it:
We include Lecithin in our overnight repair cream as a biomimetic emulsifier and barrier restorer. It helps create our rich, stable texture while actively contributing phospholipids that your skin recognizes as its own. Phospholipids and ceramides are natural partners. Together, they rebuild barrier structure more completely than either alone.
