Panthenol

INCI: PANTHENOL
Type: Skin conditioning, soothing agent, pro-vitamin
Origin: A stable, alcohol derivative of pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5). It is produced synthetically but is bio-identical to the naturally occurring vitamin.

What it does:

Panthenol is a multifunctional, pro-vitamin form of Vitamin B5. Once absorbed into the skin, it converts to pantothenic acid, an essential component of healthy skin metabolism. Primary functions:

1. Soothing and anti-inflammatory: Clinically proven to reduce redness, irritation, and itchiness, making it invaluable for sensitive, compromised, or post-procedure skin.
2. Barrier repair and wound healing: Accelerates epidermal regeneration and supports lipid barrier synthesis, helping compromised skin repair itself more efficiently.
3. Film-forming: Creates a protective, breathable film on the skin that helps reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Why we use it:

We include Panthenol as a foundational soothing and hydrating active in both our cleanser and daily moisturiser. In cleansing, it leaves skin comforted. In moisturizing, it provides sustained hydration and actively supports the skin’s natural repair processes.

Extremely well-tolerated, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It’s widely used also in baby cosmetics.
