Raspberry Ketone

INCI: RASPBERRY KETONE (also listed as 4-(4-HYDROXYPHENYL)-2-BUTANONE or OXANONE)
Type: Fragrance ingredient, perfuming agent
Origin: The primary aromatic compound responsible for the characteristic scent of red raspberries. While naturally present in raspberries, cosmetic-grade raspberry ketone is almost exclusively produced via chemical synthesis to ensure consistency, purity, and sustainability.

What it does:

Raspberry Ketone is a scent-defining aromatic compound valued for its warm, sweet, fruity fragrance profile. Its primary function is singular and clear:

  1. Perfuming agent: Its sole purpose in cosmetic formulations is to impart, enhance, or modify the scent of a product. It contributes a recognizable, pleasant raspberry-like fragrance note that is both sweet and slightly woody.

Why we use it:

Raspberry Ketone is included in the Parfume ingredient in our formulations. It contributes to the subtle, pleasant sensory character of the product.

It is one of the 26 regulated fragrance allergens under EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. When present above 0.001% in leave-on products (or 0.01% in rinse-off), it must be listed individually in the INCI – not hidden under Parfum.
