Type: Perfuming agent

Origin: A synthetic fragrance compound with a sweet, floral scent reminiscent of lily of the valley, linden blossom, or lilac. It can be produced synthetically or derived from certain essential oils via hydration of citronellal.

What it does

Hydroxycitronellal is a well-known fragrance allergen regulated by the EU. It is valued for its pleasant floral scent profile

  • Primary function: Perfuming: Contributes a strong, sweet, floral scent (like lily of the valley, linden) to fragrance compositions .

Why we use it

This ingredient is not added separately to our formulations. It arrives naturally as a constituent of essential oils within our pre-blended fragrance substance. EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 requires individual disclosure of certain fragrance allergens when present above specific thresholds: 0.001% in leave-on products 0.01% in rinse-off products Geraniol is one of the 26 established fragrance allergens regulated under Annex III of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Present at trace levels – only what naturally occurs within our selected fragrance composition, well within EU safety limits.
